LAC du FLAMBEAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Authorities havearrested a person tied to a suspected drug overdose death in Eagle River.
The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence in the Town of Lac du Flambeau on July 16 at about 4:30pm, according to a news release from Eagle River Police. The Eagle River Police Department, Lac du Flambeau Police and the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation assisted in the operation.
Two people were taken into custody at the residence, but officials said those arrests were unrelated to the drug overdose investigation.
Then the Portage County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had left the Town of Lac du Flambeau before the search warrant was executed. A suspect connected to the investigation was arrested during that stop.
The investigation remains active.
Eagle River Police also extends their deepest condolences to the family of the victim, who they’ve identified as Sabrina M. Cross.
