Wausau Woodchucks
THUNDER BAY, ONT (WSAU) — The Wausau Woodchucks and Thunder Bay Border Cats will not play tonight.
The teams announced that their two-game series in Ontario has been canceled as Canadian wildfire smoke continues to blanket North America, meaning the Woodchucks have now lost their last three games due to the conditions.
The stretch started when Wausau and Madison called off Wednesday’s game at Athletic Park. Wausau’s last completed game was Tuesday, July 14th, a 12-7 win over Madison in Wausau.
Wausau currently sits in second place in the Great Lakes West second-half standings, a game and a half behind the Lakeshore Chinooks, who have the top spot.
Wausau now gears up for a two-game road trip to Duluth, who were the 2025 Great Plains Division champions and runners-up in the Northwoods League championship game. The Huskies and Woodchucks will start a stretch of facing each other four times in a five-day span when Wausau travels to Wade Stadium tomorrow, Saturday, July 18, for a 5:35 p.m. first pitch in Duluth.
The Woodchucks return home on Monday, July 20th, for a make-up game against Madison.
