John Stalker
STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A Portage County Man has pleaded no contest to felony burglary after stealing underwear from a Stevens Point woman’s bedroom this summer.
John Stalker entered the plea this afternoon as part of a deal covering multiple open cases. The 42-year-old snuck into the victim’s bedroom and emptied her underwear drawer, leaving everything else in the home untouched.
Officers used surveillance footage from nearby homes to piece together the timeline of events. When they searched the stalker’s home, they found the victim’s underwear along with underwear that belonged to other women.
Additional charges against him included two counts of stalking, which were amended to misdemeanor disorderly conduct. He pleaded no contest to those counts as well as one count of felony bail jumping.
Court records show the state recommends prison time for the felony counts, though the defense can argue against that at sentencing. A judge ordered a presentence investigation, with sentencing scheduled for December 23rd.
He faces up to 18.5 years in the state prison system, plus fines.
