WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Aspirus Health has opened a neonatal health clinic, focused on caring for children who require intensive care from birth to age three.
The clinic will offer a roster of neonatologists and physical, speech, language, and occupational therapists, focused on screening for and addressing post-discharge issues in a child’s first two years.
Neuroplasticity, or brain growth, is highest during the first two years of life, and interventions during that time significantly improve outcomes.
“The Aspirus Neonatal Clinic demonstrates [a] commitment to our most vulnerable patients. We are proud to offer such vital services to Central Wisconsin families,” said neonatologist Pankaj Nagaraj, MD, in a press release. “By providing the most effective interventions at crucial developmental stages, we are setting up these fragile infants with the greatest potential for positive outcomes and the best chances of a healthy, happy life.”
The clinic is located at 2720 Plaza Drive on the Aspirus Wausau campus.
