Milwaukee Brewers
MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Gary Sanchez and Jackson Chourio homered, and Chad Patrick nailed down his 5th save of the season as Milwaukee defeated Pittsburgh 5-2 on Thursday.
Sanchez paced the offense, going 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored, both coming off a 5th-inning home run. He also recorded a single.
Garrett Mitchell and Cooper Pratt both doubled. Chourio’s home run was a solo blast in the first inning.
Pitcher Dustin May made his Brewers debut after being acquired from the Cardinals at the trade deadline. He went six innings and allowed three hits and two earned runs.
DL Hall and Aaron Ashby followed, each recording a hold. Ashby allowed a hit but struck out three in the 8th. Patrick got the 9th, working around a hit and a walk to close out the game.
The Brewers won the four-game series 3-1 but trail Pittsburgh in the season series 6-4. The two teams are scheduled to play another three-game set in September.
Milwaukee is now 72-43 on the season and will welcome the Minnesota Twins for a three-game interleague set starting Friday.
