WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man accused of attempted homicide for cutting his friend’s throat in a drug-fueled rage has pled to a lesser charge and will serve prison time.
Lee Xiong entered a no contest plea to one count of recklessly endangering safety for using a box cutter to slit another man’s throat in 2023. According to the victim, Xiong was paranoid, saying someone had placed a hit on him and that the victim was planning to carry it out.
Witnesses say Xiong was using meth and had gone days without sleep at the time of the incident.
The plea is part of a deal that closes multiple open cases against the 40-year-old. He also pleaded no contest to one count of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. Additional charges for possession of THC and drug paraphernalia were dismissed but read into the record.
A judge then sentenced him to 5.5 years in prison and 8.5 years on extended supervision for the meth charge and 3 years in prison and 7 years on extended supervision for recklessly endangering safety. Those sentences will run concurrently, or at the same time.
Terms of his sentence include a full no contact order with the victim and absolute sobriety from drugs and alcohol. He must maintain full-time employment or schooling and complete treatment or counseling as ordered while on extended supervision.
He was given credit for nearly three years already served in jail.
