MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – According to reports, the Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Mets have discussed a trade that would return Freddy Peralta to Milwaukee.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the two sides have been in communication in recent days as New York attempts to sell at the trade deadline, as the team continues to struggle to compete in the NL East, behind the first-place Atlanta Braves by 17.5 games.
Peralta, who was sold to New York earlier this year for top prospects Brandon Sproat and Jett Williams, has a 5-9 record and a 4.99 ERA this season.
Peralta is due to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, and Passan did not specify what the Brewers were ready to give up in the prospective trade.
Milwaukee has reportedly contacted the San Diego Padres and Detroit Tigers about star reliever Mason Miller and starter Tarik Skubal, who are expected to be traded at the deadline.
