Aliya Mae James of Weston is charged with homicide by vehicle while using a controlled substance, second-degree reckless homicide and other charges. Prosecutors say the then 19-year-old had drugs in her system when she crashed into another vehicle on Camp Phillips Road.
A traffic reconstruction team estimates James was traveling about 70 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone at the time of the crash. The collision killed the 86-year-old man.
James is free on $10,000 cash bond. Her arraignment is set for August 24.
