WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Boys and Girls Club of the Wausau Area will expand services in Merrill following the purchase of the former Armory building.
The club announced the deal on Tuesday, saying they’ve secured $3 million in financing to create a full-service club site including a playground, art studio, teaching kitchen, classrooms, and an academic center.
The site will allow the Club to expand services to additional grade levels and support increased capacity and program services, including academic and hands-on learning, life and workforce readiness, STEM, art, health and wellness, and character and leadership development, according to a news release.
Construction is expected to start in October with completion by the summer of 2027. Until then, they’ll continue to utilize space at the Prairie River Middle School.
