MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Jacob Misorowski allowed just two hits and one earned run over seven innings and once again topped 103 MPH on the gun as Milwaukee defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 5-1 on Monday afternoon.
Misorowski (5-2) recorded 12 strikeouts on 96 pitches and lowered his ERA to 1.83. He also became the first Pitcher to reach 100 strikeouts on the season.
Aaron Ashby threw the final two innings, allowing no hits or walks and recording one punchout.
A balanced offensive output backed up that strong pitching performance, led by three hits from Andrew Vaughn, including a ground-ruled double in the 7th that brought home Brice Turang.
Christian Yelich added a two-run home run in the first inning, one of his two hits on the day. Luis Rengifo and Garrett Mitchell also recorded two hits.
Milwaukee’s five runs came from five different players.
The Brewers are now 31-20 on the season and 2.5 games up on St. Louis in the NL Central. Game two of the series is Tuesday night, with coverage beginning at
