WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin has launched a dedicated website for its tornado relief fund, including an application for victims.
“The launch of this webpage is an important step in ensuring transparency and accessibility as we move from immediate response into long-term recovery,” said President and CEO Tim Parker via a press release. “We are committed to making it as easy as possible for those impacted to access support, while also keeping our donors and community informed every step of the way.”
The application is available on the Foundation’s website by clicking here. Those requesting aid will need to provide basic information, including:
- Verification that they were affected by the tornado
- A description of the hardship being experienced
- The amount of assistance requested
- Information on other aid received or pending
A five-member review team will meet weekly to review applications and distribute funds. The team will include representatives from the impacted area.
A paper copy of the application is also available.
The foundation launched the tornado relief fund in the hours after an EF-3 twister struck Marathon County on April 17th, damaging more than 140 homes. The Town of Ringle took the brunt of the impact, though damage was also reported in nearby Kronenwetter.
Since then, more than 700 individuals and groups have donated almost $260,000. That money has been used to provide dumpsters in the damage zone, tarps for homes, and food.
The fund’s current balance is $258,882.78, according to a spreadsheet provided by the Foundation.
