PLOVER, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is leading a nationwide tribute called “Light Up the Night for Fallen Firefighters”, to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The Plover Fire Department is just one department taking part in the event.
Encouraging residents to switch their outdoor lights to red, as a simple gesture meant to honor fallen firefighters both locally and nationwide.
And to encourage participation, the department is also adding a community incentive.
“We’re going to pick 5 random people who do change their light to red and take a picture and submit it on our Facebook page. We’re going to choose five random people and give them a Kwik Trip gift card,” says Bobby Sullivan, Plover Fire Department Lieutenant.
That tribute continues now through Sunday, May 3rd, with the hope of seeing communities across the state glowing red.
