MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – Rumors continue to swirl that the Milwaukee Brewers have been aggressively looking to acquire some of the biggest names in the pitching.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Brewers and Tigers have continued trade talks centered around acquiring Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, but they also love the idea of adding closer Mason Miller to what’s already a superpen featuring Abner Uribe and Trevor Megill.
Milwaukee has the best farm system in baseball and may be prepared to part with elite prospects like infielder Luis Pena, starting pitcher Logan Henderson, catcher Jeferson Quero, infielder Jett Williams, and outfielder Josh Adamczewski in exchange for either star pitcher.
The 29-year-old Skubal is 7-5 so far this season with a 2.79 ERA and 116 strikeouts, but his Detroit Tigers have struggled and are already six games behind the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central. With 28 saves and a 0.79 ERA for a San Diego team that is currently 13 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West, Miller has been the game’s most dominant closer to date.
