Milwaukee Brewers
MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Brewers couldn’t hold a 2-1 lead after four innings, falling to Cleveland 4-2 on Thursday.
Gary Sanches recorded an RBI single and Cooper Pratt brought home a run on a sac fly to help Milwaukee build the early lead, but the offense sputtered from there. The Brewers recorded just five hits, including doubles from Christian Yelich and Blake Perkins.
Home runs from Kyle Manzardo and Travis Bazzana put the Guardians in front late.
Shane Drohan started, going five innings and allowing three hits and one earned run, taking a no-decision. Grant Anderson suffered the loss, allowing two earned runs.
Guardians starter Parker Messick struck out nine.
Milwaukee is now 45-27 on the season and will head to The Battery in suburban Atlanta to take on the Braves for three games starting on Friday. Pregame coverage begins at 5:40 on WSAU.
It’s the first of two series between the Braves and the Brewers. The second will come in late August and features two games in Milwaukee. The third game will be held in Williamsport, PA, for the 2026 Little League Classic, with the Brewers serving as the home team.
