WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — The woman accused of stealing thousands from the St. Vincent de Paul organization in Marshfield was in court on Wednesday.
Trisha Hebert stood mute as a judge entered a not guilty plea on her behalf for felony theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, and forging corporate documents. Investigators say the 38-year-old took thousands from the group, using the money for personal expenses. Though she claims she was helping clients with their mortgage payments and other expenses. But documents obtained by investigators show many of those alleged beneficaries were not receiving support at that time, and at least one person may have been made up.
Officers say the cash withdrawals, which totaled more than $108,000, may have coincided with Hebert’s trips to local casinos. She lost access to the accounts in July 2024, around the same time that other directors said the mysterious withdrawals stopped.
Charges against her carry a maximum of 28.5 years in the state prison system. Hebert is free on a $25,000 signature bond, with further court action scheduled for October 22nd.
