Tornado damage in Ringle, WI (WAOW)
RINGLE, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – It’s now been one week since a tornado ripped through Ringle, damaging at least 70 homes.
And as families work to put their lives back together, there are many questions about what comes next.
But in the middle of all that uncertainty, local insurance agents are stepping in, not just as professionals, but as neighbors.
For single homeowner and insurance agent, Steve Norrington, this isn’t just another claim.
It’s his reality.
“Everybody is like insurance is bad, insurance is all this and that. But insurance is here when you need it. Like we’re going to be put back, we’re going to be whole again. We don’t have to pay for this all by ourselves,” says Norrington
His own home was damaged. His own family was displaced.
But still, he’s spending his days helping others navigate the same loss.
“It’s pennies compared to what they are going to do to put my family back in a safe space,” says Norrington.
And in the middle of shock and heartbreak, he says the first steps are simple, but critical.
“Basic things they could do was to mitigate the situation immediately. You just got to any further loss. making sure no more damage can fall into the house,” says Norrington.
Agents say that’s where documentation becomes so important, even when it feels impossible.
“And document the things they know may have been lost or document the things that have been damaged and all of the things that they absolutely know can not be salvaged,” says Jonnee Bauer, American Family Insurance agent.
They are urging families to take photos of everything: drawers, cabinets and garages.
