MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Cincinnati Reds held Milwaukee to one run on three hits in a 3-1 victory on Friday, keeping their Postseason hopes alive into the final weekend of the season.
Christian Yelich, Brice Turang, and Sal Frelick each recorded a hit. Yelich’s hit went for two bases in the 3rd, and was followed by a Turang single, accounting for the lone run of the game for the Brewers.
Quinn Priester took the loss, allowing nine hits and three earned runs over five innings.
The result, combined with Philadelphia’s win over Minnesota, means the top seed in the National League Postseason remains up for grabs on Saturday. Milwaukee can end the discussion with a win over the Reds, while Philly will need a win and a Brewers loss to extend the race to the final day of the regular season.
Both teams have earned a first-round bye and will not participate in the Wild Card Series next week. Milwaukee owns the tiebreaker and would earn the top seed should the two sides finish with the same record.
Milwaukee and Cincinnati play game 161 of the season tonight. Pregame coverage on WSAU begins at 5:40 on WSAU. Sunday’s regular-season finale will air on 93.9 The Game, with Packer football on WSAU.
