MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Badgers have reportedly settled on a starting QB for Week One.
Former Maryland QB Billy Edwards Jr has been given the job, according to reporter Sean Wright. Edwards transferred to Wisconsin from Maryland last offseason and was expected to compete for the job.
The Springfield, VA native threw for 2,881 yards last season to go with 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Maryland finished the season 4-8 and 1-8 in Big Ten play. Their lone conference win came at home against Southern Cal.
Edwards is at his third school, having started his career at Wake Forest in 2021. He redshirted that year and did not see any game action.
Wisconsin opens the season Thursday, August 28th, against Miami University (OH). Pregame coverage on WSAU will begin at 6 PM, with kickoff at 8:00 PM.
