WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Three of the four closed Wausau Elementary School buildings are now officially for sale.
The district has listed the Hawthorn Hills, Hewitt-Texas, and Grant buildings through local broker Tim Wimmer. According to a press release, leaders will be working “closely with [Wimmer] through the sale process.
“The Wausau School Board will review any offers made on the properties and will make any final decisions on the sales of the prospective schools,” leaders added.
The asking price for the buildings ranges from $250,000 to $650,000.
Staff from those buildings are also working to pack their classrooms and offices as they prepare to move to nearby buildings. That process is expected to take up much of summer break but should be done in time for August open houses and the start of the new academic year in September.
Students and staff in those three schools will be absorbed by other nearby schools, including Riverview, John Marshall, Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson. Lincoln Elementary is also closing, but will be converted to a 4K facility for students on the east side of the Wisconsin River.
