MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The latest Marquette Law poll is out, and Wisconsin voters remain split on everything from what they think of President Trump’s tariff policy to how they view the current state of the pivotal Supreme Court race.
According to the poll, among voters who are enthusiastic to vote, former Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel is viewed favorably by 42% of respondents, while 43% have an unfavorable opinion. Meanwhile, the same group gave Judge Susan Crawford a 33% approval rating while 32% viewed her unfavorably. Overall, 38% of respondents didn’t have an opinion of Schimel, while 57% said they didn’t have an opinion of Crawford.
When asked about how they feel about the president’s tariff policies on Canada and Mexico, just 32% stated that the tariffs would help the U.S. economy, while 16% said they didn’t make much of a difference, and 51% said they would hurt the economy. The same group was also asked to weigh in on the president’s immigration policies, with 61% stating they approved of the plan to carry out deportations and close the border while 38% opposed the policy.
Both political parties were also polled based on their favorability, with 47% having a positive opinion of the Republican Party, which matched President Trump’s approval rating of 48%, while the Democratic Party was given an approval rating of just 34% with a 62% disapproval rating.
Other issues that respondents weighed in on included 77% supporting Wisconsin requiring photo ID to vote, 64% favoring legal abortions in all or most cases, 58% saying they’re either very satisfied or satisfied with their local public school, 60% saying Wisconsin schools have set learning standards lower than they should be, ending DEI programs at Wisconsin universities and government agencies was supported by 50% of respondents, and 54% support requiring state employees to return to work in physical offices.
The poll was conducted from February 19th through the 26th and surveyed 864 registered Wisconsin voters.
