WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – The Marathon County Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department released a statement about safety on Thursday ahead of the opening of gun season this weekend.
The Department asks that anyone who is hiking or doing any kind of outdoor activity wear pink or blaze orange to help hunters spot you while in the woods. They further stated that this includes the inside of Nine Mile Forest as gun season runs through Sunday, November 26th.
Gun season is followed by muzzleloader season, which begins on Monday, November 27th, and then the statewide antlerless season begins on Thursday, December 7th.
