WESTON, WI (WSAU) – The village of Weston Finance Committee voted to approve proposed rate increases for the village’s water and stormwater rates.
Village of Weston Director of Public Works Michael Wodelski spoke about the stormwater rate increase and stated that the funds will help the village complete upcoming projects, such as getting in compliance with the DNR requirements on the Wisconsin River basin.
Wodelski also discussed the village’s desire to keep rates up-to-date but also affordable, saying, “This is an increase but not a 100% increase that other communities have had in recent years, and we try to be conscious of that.”
The simplified rate increase of about 8%, or about $4.65 per quarter for the average user, will now move on to the village board for a final vote. Wodelski also said that the last stormwater rate increase was in 2004 and that this increase should be the last for the foreseeable future.
