WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau City Council has rescheduled their committee of the whole discussion on homelessness for later this month.
In an agenda posted on Wednesday, alders rescheduled the discussion for Tuesday, March 28th immediately following that night’s City Council meeting. The agenda includes presentations from both the United Way Housing Task Force and Marathon County Outreach Task Force.
Alders will also consider creating a new Department of Social Development within the city government, an idea that some on the council have been lukewarm to.
The committee meeting was requested by two Alders, Gary Gisselman and Tom Kilian, to determine if there is any way that city government can provide more support to those groups that are working to solve homelessness in the area.
The discussion had been scheduled for Thursday, February 23rd but was postponed due to a winter storm.
