STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The UWSP mens hockey team stunned UW-Superior 3-2 in overtime on Saturday at KB Willet Arena.
The Pointers scored twice in the final 2:33 of regulation to send the game to OT. Noah Finstrom scored on the power-play with the goal tender pulled as well. Evan Junker tied the game with a wrister from the blue line with 47 seconds remaining.
Dawson Sciarrino scored the game winner with 1:52 remaining in OT.
The Pointers, now 61-3, 4-0 in WIAC, will have a home & home with UW-Eau Claire on Friday and Saturday.
The UWSP womens hockey team beat Northland 5-1 on Saturday in Stevens Point.
Courtney Leising had two goals. The other goals went to Madison Stebbeds, Ali Granovsky & Maddie Andrle. Olivia Schultz had 19 saves.
The Pointers, now 5-3-1, will host St. Catherine on Tuesday.
The UWSP mens basketball team topped UW-Platteville 78-74 in overtime on Saturday night in Platteville.
The Pointers erased a 10-point second half deficit and held the pioneers scoreless in the overtime period.
Jake Buchanan led the Pointers with a career-high 27 points. AJ Makinen had 19 points including five three-pointers.
The Pointers, now 5-3, 1-1 in WIAC, will host Trine on Thursday.
The UWSP womens basketball team beat Platteville 59-53 on Saturday at Berg Gym.
Alexa Thomson had 22 points. Gabby Gawlitta had 14 and Jamie Pfeifer added 11.
The Pointers, now 6-2, 1-1 in WIAC, will play Luther in Decorah Iowa on Wednesday.
