NORTHFIELD, Minn (WSAU) — The UWSP mens basketball team dropped their opener to St. Olaf 66-50 on Wednesday night.
Senior Garrett Nelson led the Pointers with 16 points. Peter Timmerman had 11 and Elijah Vander Velden added 10.
The Pointers had a 42-39 lead around five minutes into the second half but the Oles went on a 27-8 run as UWSP made only three baskets the rest of the way.
The Pointers, now 0-1, will head back to Minnesota next Wednesday for a matchup with Bethel.
