WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – The Marathon County Health Department is offering a flu-shot clinic on Sunday from 10am to noon on Sunday.
The flu vaccine will be offered from 10am to noon at 1000 Lake View Drive in Wausau. Use parking lots D or E, and enter through Door 28.
You do not need your insurance information. The vaccine is being offered free of charge.
The clinic comes after a public exposure incident earlier in the week at the Marshfield Medical Center’s emergency room in Weston on November 5th from 1:30 to 3:30pm. People who may have been exposed are asked to self-isolate and monitor for symptoms. Early symptoms include a high fever, cough, runny nose, watery eyes and fatigue. A red, raised rash appears 3 to 4 days after exposure.
Flu is considered highly contagious because people who have it can make others sick for days before they show symptoms.
As of last week the state Department of Health has confirmed 431 flu cases, with one fatality. Most, but not all cases, are in the southwestern part of the state.
