WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau Mayor Doug Diny is encouraging residents to take a 15-minute survey on a potential shift to a city administrator form of government.
The survey is open to anyone who lives or works in Wausau. It focuses on how familiar residents are with the city’s current government, what matters to them in how the city is run, and whether they support the change. Residents will also be asked how much they know about an administrator form of government and what they would be interested in learning.
“This is a conversation about improving how the City operates while preserving the ability of residents to elect the people who set direction and hold staff accountable,” Mayor Doug Diny said in a press release.
The survey is available online [link here] and paper copies can be picked up at City Hall. The deadline to participate is Nov. 17. Results will be posted on the city’s website and shared with the City Council.
The city administrator debate is not new to Wausau; a binding referendum on the topic failed 10 years ago. Mayor Diny recently revived the debate, saying the change would bring greater continuity to city leadership.
