MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin men’s basketball team fell to Oklahoma 84-83 in a neutral-site exhibition contest Friday.
John Blackwell led Wisconsin with a game-high 20 points and five rebounds. Nick Boyd added 19 points and six boards, and Austin Rapp scored 17 and also recorded six rebounds.
Wisconsin trailed 46-41 at halftime, but things could have been much worse, as Oklahoma shot 63% from the field, including 67% from three-point range, in the first 20 minutes. Wisconsin shot just under 40% in the first half.
The game was made possible after the NCAA loosened restrictions on preseason exhibition games. All schools are now allowed up to two such games against four-year schools each season. Previously, to qualify for a second exhibition, both schools had to agree to donate proceeds from the game to a charitable group.
Wisconsin will host UW-Platteville for the annual WIAC exhibition game at the Kohl Center next Wednesday. The regular season tips off against Campbell University (NC) on November 3rd.
