WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A 1989 Wausau East Graduate has been appointed to the School Board.
Charles Burger was voted onto the board on Monday, filling a seat vacated by longtime board member Jane Rusch, who stepped down in late August.
According to a press release from the district, Burger has served as an advisor to organizations such as NASA, providing “guidance on complex projects.” He has also volunteered with the Wisconsin DNR and Wausau School District.
He says his primary goal on the Wausau School Board is to “build upon Wausau School District’s fine tradition and history of excellence.” He also says he’s passionate about contributing to education and the future success of our students.
Burger’s seat will be up for election in April 2026, along with three others. The top three vote getters will be sworn in for a full term (expiring April 2029), and the fourth-place finisher will complete the remainder of Rusch’s unexpired term (April 2027).
