TOMAHAWK, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The 44th Annual Fall Ride was held last weekend bringing the Northwoods community together for a historic celebration.
Since the start of the event in 1982 by 21 riders from the North Country Riders Motorcycle Club, the event continues to grow and evolve.
“This year we brought back a lot of things, new things coming in, we have a bunch of people in the area that do stuff so from us, to Main Street, Holly’s, Bubba’s. Everybody chips in… It takes all 3,000 people to do this because there’s 45,000 extra people in town,” said Charis Lau, executive director of the Tomahawk Regional Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center.
Lau said the economic impact of the event extends beyond Tomahawk, benefiting the entire Northwoods and even Wausau. The city of Tomahawk, the Chamber of Commerce, and numerous nonprofits work tirelessly to maintain this tradition.
“Minocqua is a big tourist destination but Tomahawk, we kind of get bypassed… For us it’s, we are the community based and you can tell when this event comes up how much goes into it from everybody that lives here… This group of folks that come up, there’s very few that you don’t get along with,” Lau said.
The event includeds Harley Davidson bike demos and museum, bike raffles, live music, and the Thunder Parade, which boasted over 700 bikes last year.
