WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man facing 11 felony counts for possession of child pornography and possession of THC with the intent to distribute pleaded no contest to one count as part of a plea deal announced on Friday.
James West was sentenced to three years in prison and an additional three years on extended supervision. The 44-year-old will also complete treatment, including a psychosexual evaluation and sex offender treatment course.
West was arrested and charged earlier this year after police received a tip about images on his phone. A search yielded more than 140 photos, including some of children being sexually assaulted.
When officers searched his home, they also found a large amount of marijuana. As part of Friday’s deal, one count of possession with intent to distribute was also dismissed but read into the record.
He had faced more than 250 years in prison on all counts combined.
