
Wausau Woodchucks
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau Woodchucks season came to an end with a 6-4 playoff loss to Green Bay on Monday night at Athletic Park.
It was Wausau’s first home loss since June 28th. They had won 20 games in a row at home.
The Woodchucks got off to a 3-0 lead on a Josh Arquette sac-fly and two unearned runs in the second inning. After Green Bay scored one, Max Soliz hit a solo home run in the 3rd inning giving the Chucks a 4-1 advantage.
The Rockers then put up five runs over the final two innings. Wausau had the tying run at the plate in the 9th but fell short.
The Woodchucks wasted a good pitching performance from starter Zach Wyatt who gave up one run over six innings of work. He struck out four. Wyatt led the Chucks this year in innings pitched and strikeouts.
Wausau ends the sesaon with a record of 46-25. Green Bay advances and will face Traverse City in the Northwoods League semi-finals.
