STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A former Stevens Point EMT and Aspirus Hospital employee has been sentenced to prison time for sexual assault
Mark Schoeberle will serve six years in prison and six years on extended supervision for multiple counts of second-degree sexual assault, according to Portage County District Attorney Cass Cousins.
The 52-year-old will also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
His conviction stems from assaults reported by patients at a Stevens Point hospital where he was employed.
District Attorney Cousins emphasized that Schoeberle abused his position of power and failed to take responsibility for his actions.
“This defendant’s actions were predatory and abusive,” Cousins said.
He praised the victims’ bravery and the investigative efforts of the City of Waupaca Police Department.
Judge Patricia Baker concurred with the need for a prison sentence to protect the community, citing the harm done to the local medical community’s reputation.
