WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Those clamoring for repairs to Highway 29 west of Wausau will get their wish.
A $10 million repair will begin Monday, covering a stretch from Wausau to just west of Marathon City. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of that project.
Crews will resurface the highway, replace culvert pipes, and install new guardrails at spot locations. American Asphalt will serve as the prime contractor.
Then, on June 4th, a $6.1 million project will commence between the Clark County line and County Road E near Stratford. Chippewa Concrete Services, Inc. is the prime contractor for that project. Crews will patch westbound concrete pavement and ramps at WIS 13, improve the off-ramps at WIS 13, replace the concrete pavement at the off-ramp to Spruce Street/Maple Road, replace the guardrail, replace the asphalt shoulders, and install new pavement markings.
Traffic will be shifted to the eastbound lanes for the duration of that project. Temporary ramp closures will also be required.
Both projects are scheduled to wrap in the Fall, weather dependent.
