WASHINGTON DC (WSAU) – A large-scale intelligence breach is finally shedding some light on who may have been responsible for the bombing of the Nord Stream pipeline last fall.
According to documents obtained by The Washington Post, the Biden administration was aware of a Ukrainian plot to sabotage the Nord Stream 1 pipeline months before three unexplained explosions tore through both of the main natural gas pipelines from Russia to Germany.
The Post reported, citing the leaked Pentagon intelligence documents, that a close U.S. ally who the Post had agreed to keep anonymous told the CIA in June 2022 that they had learned of a plan hatched by the Ukrainian military to send a small military diving squad who reported directly to the commander in chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to blow up Nord Stream 1.
Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council John Kirby was asked during today’s press briefing about the report. See video below for his full comment.

The evidence may confirm growing suspicions among Western allies that Moscow was not behind the sabotage, despite widespread claims to the contrary in the media. Media outlets claimed Russia destroyed the pipeline to blackmail European countries such as Germany to loosen sanctions on Russian Officials and the country as a whole.
Ukraine objected to the Nord Stream project because the pipes would have allowed Russia to export natural gas to Europe without going through Ukraine, increasing Russia’s export revenue, according to The Post.
The CIA declined to comment on the matter. Requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation and The Post were not immediately answered by the White House or the National Security Council.
