STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — Residents who participated in “No Mow May” are now officially on the clock with the calendar flipping to June.
Stevens Point Mayor Mike Wiza posted a reminder to the city’s website on Thursday saying that the city’s lawn maintenance ordinance will be back in full effect on June 5th, meaning residents that “it’s time to mow [their] lawn to a height of less than approximately 9 inches and mulch, compost, or remove all grass clippings.”
Many communities have begun the practice of suspending their lawn ordinances for the entire month of May, allowing residents to let their grass grow to promote pollinator habitats.
Other communities that implemented No Mow May include Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids. The movement started in the Oshkosh area and has slowly grown to include many other communities across the state.
