MADISON, WI (WTAQ) — Teams from the Federal Emergency Management Agency are going to be deployed across Wisconsin to assist local hospitals in dealing with COVID-19 patients.
Several such teams are expected to be deployed across the state to help deal with a continuing surge in new infections.
“These teams will be dispersed around the state,” said DHS Secretary Designee Karen Timberlake. “And will add important capacity, especially in intensive care units.”
Where, exactly, they’ll go isn’t clear, yet.
“What we need to do, is ask for what we think is in the best interest of the people of our state,” Timberlake said. “Then we work, obviously, with federal partners to make sure that we can get what we need across our state.”
It comes as the seven day average of new COVID-19 cases in the state stands at over 3,100. 33 new deaths were reported on Wednesday. There are 1,630 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Wisconsin.
