WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The man accused of vandalizing the First Universalist Unitarian Church in Wausau will pay fines and serve probation as part of a plea deal reached on Thursday
Adam Dupleasis has been ordered to pay the Church $1,000 in restitution and $300 to RMM Solutions for the May 15th incident in which he is seen on security camera footage breaking into the building and using a chemical fire extinguisher to damage the Church organ and other areas of the sanctuary.
He will also complete anger management classes and four years of probation.
Damage to the facility was so extensive that the UU Church temporarily moved its services to the nearby First United Methodist Church while repairs were made. The extent of the damage was never revealed.
Charges against Dupleasis include burglary, criminal damage to property, criminal damage to Religious property, and multiple counts of bail jumping. He was also found to have meth at the time of the incident.
He previously pled not guilty to the charges in early June. As part of Thursday’s agreement, he did change those pleas to no contest, and a Marathon County judge found him guilty.
