MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Badger men’s hockey team enters the 2021-’22 regular season ranked 13th in the USCHO Division I men’s poll.
Wisconsin, who entered last year’s Division I tournament as one of the favorites coming off the Big Ten championship, received 362 ballot points and was slotted just behind the University of Denver.
The top five teams in the ranking included two Big Ten schools- Michigan and Minnesota at #3 and #4, respectively. MSU Mankato, St. Cloud State, and Minnesota-Duluth rounded out the top five.
The Badgers drop the puck on the new season this Friday with a non-conference tilt against Michigan Tech at the Kohl Center. Faceoff is set for 7:00 PM. Those games will not be heard on WSAU due to Milwaukee Brewers postseason coverage, which also begins on Friday against the Atlanta Braves.
Meanwhile, the Badger women continue to top the Division I rankings with a perfect 4-0 mark going into WCHA play this weekend. They open with two at home against St. Cloud starting on Friday.
