“Hidden Bodies” by Caroline Kepnes
Published: January 14, 2016 by Atria/Emily Bestler Books
Genre: Thriller
“Hidden Bodies” is the second book in the “You” trilogy. It is 439 pages (hardcover) of pure gold. I absolutely loved this book perhaps even more than the first.
“Hidden Bodies” is very different than season 2 of “You” on Netflix. I’m not going to run down the differences, but I will tell you that when you start reading it, if you’ve already seen the season you will wonder who the heck is this person? And where the heck is Candace?
Joe moves to L.A. to start a new life in the series, but in the book it’s to chase after a woman who wronged him. Both stories will eventually lead you to Love so just hang on. Love is Joe’s obsession in the second book, but she’s more than that…she’s the real thing. Love and Joe connect on a totally different level than Joe and Beck ever did.
Joe can’t outrun his demons and he leans into his old murderous ways. He can’t seem to leave his past behind him and that proves to be a problem in his relationship with Love. Well, that and her obnoxious, drug addicted, twin brother Forty.
I cannot recommend this series enough! Both the show and the book are great. You should devote some of your time to both because they are so different.
The third book “You Love Me: A You Novel” is due out April 2021 and I already ordered it.
After reading these amazing books I had high hopes for “Providence” by Caroline Kepnes, I’ll review that one next.
